Getting in touch |
|
The easiest way to get in touch with Worship In Northampton is to come along one Friday evening. Check our main page for details of the next meeting. If you need to ask us anything that isn't covered here, or if you can't make it on that evening but would like to know about future meetings, drop us a line at uniting.worship@btinternet.com. Spam issuesIt shouldn't be necessary to say this but, because this isn't a perfect world, I will just mention (for the benefit of the wary) that sending me an email will not result in my flooding your inbox with spam (i.e. unsolicited 'bulk' email). Apart from being very anti-spam myself, I'm far too busy doing other stuff to waste my time and yours playing silly games with your email address. If you send me an email, and if I get it, and if it's relevant, I'll obviously reply (out of sheer courtesy if nothing else). And yes, at that point I'll also add your name and email address to my mailing list. And yes, at some point it may be a good idea to use the list to update people with what's happening. But if I'm sending you email that you'd rather not get, just tell me and I'll cross you off the list. How do you know I'll keep my word? Well, when this whole thing started I sent a (one-off!) letter to every church in Northampton, so the chances are good that your minister still has a letter in his possession with my home address on the top right corner! Spammers keep themselves very anonymous, because they fear for their safety, and with good reason. They don't put their home address on mailshots. If you receive spam that seems to originate from my email address, just remember that spammers very often forge email headers (e.g. "From:" or "Reply-To") because they aren't interested in reading replies, only in pushing their product. I can't stop them doing that, any more than you can. If you get a spam email that seems to be from me, ask your Internet Service Provider to check it out -- it is often possible to trace the true origin of the email by looking at the headers. Safety tips: Never reply to spam. Never follow links in spam emails. And never, ever, ever send your personal details (date of birth, home address, phone number, bank details) to anyone via unencrypted email. Be wary of emails purporting to be from your bank or building society (or similar), claiming to require verification of your personal details or they'll suspend your account! Don't let people steal your identity. (This actually happened to someone in our church, and it's caused them no end of hassle.) |
