Pakistan's UN Ambassador blames Britain for London Bombings
"Rule of law" concept confuses diplomat
Munir Akram, Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations, blames the London bombings on Britain's failure to integrate
Muslims into society, according to "Metro", the newspaper distributed free on London's Underground System.
No, Mr Akram. The London bombings were the fault of the London bombers. They broke God's law. "Thou shalt not
murder" is not a difficult law to understand or to keep; but when it is broken, people die. It's terribly,
terribly simple. Even a diplomat ought to be able to understand it. That Mr Akram seems unable to do so suggests that he
may be in the wrong job.
Pakistan's track record on integrating Christians into its society
is appalling. (Please follow the link to find out how Christians are treated in Pakistan. Rape, torture, imprisonment, death.)
But Christians don't explode bombs in Pakistan. Why not? Because God forbids it. It's very simple, Mr Akram.
Mr Akram is quoted as saying "I would suggest that it would be a great mistake to point fingers at Pakistan or
anybody else outside your country." It hadn't occurred to me to point the finger at Pakistan, actually. But now
it has. Not necessarily for the London bombings - the police can sort that out one way or another - but for the brutal way in which
Pakistan's citizens treat Christians in their country. Mr Akram's statement sounds to me like a threat. How DARE he?
